The Desires of Your Heart

Psalm 37:3-5

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Trust in the Lord and do good;
Dwell in the land and [a]cultivate faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.

I dont believe in a prosperity gospel.  Name it and claim it kinda thing.  The bible is too full of the martyrs and those who sacrificed and gave even their lives because of their faith in Christ.  Men were beheaded, crucified upside down because they thought they did not deserve to die the same way Jesus did.  Women were burned at the stake.  In prison and died because of saying they believe in the one and only true God.  My shelves have books of those who gave their lives and their families lives for the sake of Christ. God used it and the glory to God will go on forever.

What I do believe is the Lord will give you the desires of your heart if you trust Him and commit your way to him.  I am 63 years old.  My life has been a failure and a screwed up mess.  Now that I am broken over it and see my need for Jesus I am saying Lord what do you want me to do for the rest of my days.  He is giving me the desires of my heart.  He has made beauty out of ashes.  I can tell you that every bit of suffering me and my family have gone through has been worth it to me for God to now be first in our lives and to live to His glory.

There is a joy and a peace that passes all understanding, there is an abundant life that is beyond expression.  It is a hard road to get to the place where you know your life is in Christ alone but when He walks with you through that valley of shadow of death He brings you out on the other side, broken but yet whole, weak but yet strong, sick but healed, desperate but yet delighted in.  Only Jesus and the love of the Father through the Spirit can give you a life that cannot be touched by anything or anyone this world has to offer.  Sometimes it feels like hell on earth because you seek Him and it is the dark nite of the soul.  You are so alone and depressed you can't even see a star in the darkest of night.  You find out that He is getting you alone.  Just you and Him where He captures your heart and your eyes meet His because they are the only thing before you. And when they meet you are touched and the joy that is inexpressible is so rooted in your heart you feel risen from death to life.

One reason I am enjoying God in His perfection is because you have prayed for me and my family.  You have believed when I couldn't and didn't.  You carried my burdens.  You wept with me.  You loved me when I was unloveable.  You help my arms up when I grew weary.  You trusted God when I lost hope.  You interceded for my healing when I was to sick to know what world I was in.  You prayed for my family when the only way to survive was to be rescued from above and we are still believing that for us.  He has given us acceptance, love and purpose and value to where we have learned to love and to accept His love that goes and goes and goes.

When Jesus is all you have, and the Love of the Father through the Spirit you have everything.  More than this life has to offer but not that He has to offer.  He offers Himself.  There He gives you the desires of your heart.

My daughter and her sweet baby girl.  Please pray for them both.
