What is my purpose and why am I here?

I still remember the words of my friend from long ago...what is my purpose and I just want to know why am I here?

2 Cor 5:

14 For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.

15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.  What does this mean that we enjoy God and become like Him?

I have been wondering with kids gone, husband a hard working farmer, no specific ministry and a few other struggles...what am I to do to glorify God?  Brother Lawrence a Catholic priest washed dishes all day, but he did it talking and trusting God, in His presence.  He glorified God in the simplest of things, washing dishes.  Young moms, do you wonder how you glorify God? Retired folks, like me and Danny. We do the things He has given us to do in His presence.

The Spirit, though many good friends, have been giving me food for thought.  We are born very self centered.  Even our good deeds are as filthy rags.  Because they are with the wrong motives. We want for our reputation, credit for us and to make us feel better, we want Gods glory.  We are to die to ourselves and live to Christ.  We die to the flesh and learn to live in the Spirit.  Following Jesus, to love God and love others with our whole heart, mind and strength and repent when we don't.  The problem is not that we love ourselves too little but we love ourselves more than anything. We do good things for our benefit.   But receiving Gods love for us and seeing who we are in Christ...helps us to stop beating ourselves up, like the whole world depends on us.  And it helps us from thinking we are the best thing since sliced bread. lol

We are sinners who, if we are His, are saved by Grace.  We are now Saints, but we have the old sinful nature in this life, until we see Him face to face in heaven. Then we are like Him.   It is a struggle to remember who we are now and what He has done for us.  We must remind each other and sing His praises with joy that fills our heart.  We need one another to forget ourselves and live in light of His wonderful Glory!

We are in Christ and He is living His life through us.  We live with Him.  Partnering with Him, in His plan to glorify Himself, through and in us. What greater joy can we possibly be given.  A couple of verses to meditate on is Gal 2:20 and 2 Cor 5:14-15
